Data shows that by 2050, China’s elderly population of 65 years and over will reach 380 million, accounting for nearly 30% of the total population. Specialists predict that China will enter an ageing society around 2022, and the Chinese ageing populations will peak between 2035 to 2050. Due to the implementation of the one-child policy for many years, traditional family structures have changed, leading to weakening home-based care for the aged. Additionally, the rapid ageing rate and insufficient investment in the elderly care service industry, ageing and nursing problems, have become a huge challenge for China in the future.
