Yuchan Fang

Final Show: 3rd - 4th February 2023
MA 2023

I am Yuchan Fang, and I am currently studying service design at the Royal College of Art for my master's degree. As a rational and logical thinker, I enjoy working with different people and exploring the changes and contributions designers can make in financial activities and public services.

My postgraduate studies focused on service design, and I learned how to apply human-centred design approaches to answer the challenges of the technological, social, and environmental futures in commercial, social, and public contexts. And in working with enterprise, social, and public roles on projects that address real-world issues, I also learned that business thinking and design thinking are equally important in building community networks.

Final Project

Our project 'LovED' is dedicated to empowering dyslexic children and their families in China.

We recognize the unique challenges faced by these families and aim to bridge the gaps in support, awareness, and resources. Through a community-driven approach, we strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where parents can share experiences, find guidance, and access specialized knowledge. Our platform serves as a catalyst for change, fostering connections between families, experts, and local resources. By amplifying the voices of dyslexic children and their parents, we aim to bring about cultural and policy-level transformations, ultimately building a more inclusive and supportive society.

Join us on this transformative journey of love, education, and support, as we pave the way for brighter futures and empowered lives.

WIP project 2022

Our partner Oasis is on a difficult journey to reform the youth justice system by opening their first Secure School, an alternative to the current Young Offender Institutes. Their success will be measured by the reduction rate of reoffending after walk out. We believe that the key to mitigate reoffending is in successful rehabilitation in the community. Project Become is a progress tracker to be used by the Oasis Secure School.

Become is based on our hypothesis that tracking the kids progress through the positive behaviour framework of COM-B and making it visible to the children will boost their transformation. This progress must be compiled into a portfolio containing a resume of skills, recommendations from staff and peers, and a profile written by themselves, which will help them reintegrate back into society and help society to be more accepting.
